Bonfire Night 2026: Keeping Glasgow Safe
As Bonfire Night approaches, Glasgow City Council, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland are working together to help communities celebrate safely.
The City of Glasgow Bonfire & Fireworks Protocol 2026 sets out measures to reduce dangerous bonfires, prevent fireworks misuse and tackle antisocial behaviour across the city.
Key points to remember:
Firework Control Zones: Fireworks, other than exempt Category F1 fireworks such as sparklers, are prohibited within designated zones between 1 and 10 November, including on private property.
Firework curfew: Fireworks can generally only be used between 6 pm and 11 pm, extending to midnight on 5 November.
Bonfire safety: Keep fires away from buildings, vehicles, trees and combustible materials. Never leave a bonfire unattended.
Community awareness: Consider the impact of fireworks on children, vulnerable people, pets and wildlife.
Report hazards: Dangerous bonfire materials or fly-tipping can be reported to Glasgow City Council on 0141 287 9700.
The safest way to enjoy Bonfire Night is to attend an organised display where possible.
By working together and following the guidance, we can help protect our communities, public spaces and emergency services.
Stay safe and enjoy Bonfire Night responsibly.
