Consultation Open on Proposed Firework Control Zones for 2026
Residents, local businesses and community stakeholders are being encouraged to take part in a public consultation on proposed Firework Control Zones (FCZs) for 2026.
The consultation follows the application stage for the proposed zones and is now live. Participants are asked to select the zone connected to the area where they live, work or have another local connection. The consultation will remain open until 19 May 2026.
What Feedback Are GCC Looking For?
The consultation seeks views on:
The proposed FCZ areas and boundaries
Whether the proposed extension of FCZ operating dates — from 30 October to 9 November — is appropriate
General comments, concerns or feedback regarding the proposed zones
The proposed extension to the dates is intended to help reduce firework-related antisocial behaviour across the Halloween weekend and surrounding period.
What Is a Firework Control Zone?
A Firework Control Zone is designed to reduce the use of fireworks within a designated area in order to:
Improve community safety
Reduce disturbance to residents
Minimise antisocial behaviour linked to fireworks
The zones do not restrict the sale of fireworks.
Authorised community and religious events will also remain exempt and can continue to use fireworks where the appropriate permissions are in place.
Have Your Say
Community feedback will play an important role in shaping how Firework Control Zones operate in 2026. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to take a few minutes to complete the consultation before it closes on 19 May 2026.
